Andrew James Simpson MBE (born 17 December 1976), nicknamed Bart Simpson,[1] is a British sailor. He won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, as crew for skipper Iain Percy in the Star class.[2] Simpson was born in Chertsey (Surrey) and lives in Sherborne (Dorset).[3]

Since winning the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal Iain Percy and Andrew “Bart” Simpson took a breather from Star sailing and have been in the TeamORIGIN afterguard and have been doing a lot of match racing.

He was educated at Pangbourne College, a mixed boarding school in Berkshire and is a keen footballer.[4]

Simpson was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours.[5]
